Engineers vote against union representation at United Airlines, Continental Airlines

The National Mediation Board said Monday that engineers and related employees at United Airlines and Continental Airlines voted against being represented by the International Federation of Professional & Technical Engineers.

In a vote count released Monday, 163 voted against representation and 136 voted in favor of representation by the International Federation of Professional & Technical Engineers.

The IFPTE has represented about 195 United employees, with no comparable union representing comparable Continental employees.
