For a United Auto Workers representative to be carrying a “No More Bailouts” sign is one of the tiny absurdities of the grassroots activism shaking up some major cities and celebrated by progressives and Big Business haters everywhere.
I shall explain. There would be no domestic auto industry in the US were it not for the bailouts during the 2008=09 crisis that saved General Motors and got it turned around mightily. It was a crucial bailout that meant UAW members would continue to have jobs less their liberal health policies in retirement.
