Public unions criticize Pew’s involvement in Kentucky pension issue

By Mike Wynn,

A coalition of influential public unions is criticizing the involvement of a policy and research group in the proposed overhaul of Kentucky’s troubled pension system.

The Kentucky Public Pension Coalition has circulated a memo among state lawmakers that purports to “clear up misconceptions” and “reveal the true motivations behind the organization.”

CLARIFICATION: The coalition names the Pew Research Center in the memo. However, it was the Pew Center on the States that has provided key analysis to a legislative task force on pension reforms this year, not the Pew Research Center, which is a separate entity.
