Deployment of Flint state troopers at Lansing right-to-work protests draws criticism from lawmaker’s office

By David Harris,

A spokesman for Democratic Rep. Jim Ananich, D-Flint, criticized the move to use Michigan State Police troopers from the Flint post for deployment at right-to-work protest in Lansing.

“The safety of people in Flint and Genesee County should come before any political firestorm caused by Republicans in Lansing,” said Tom Lenard, spokesman for Ananich. “It’s very concerning if there is even a single officer who has been diverted from their local mission when leadership in Lansing could have easily avoided this problem all together.”

First Lt. Matt Bolger, commander of the Flint post, said that “some” troopers from the post have been in Lansing and are there today, but declined to say how many.
