The Cincinnati teachers union says it’s OK for teachers to use company email and company time to discuss a pro-tax levy campaign.
It’s now asking a judge to say it’s OK, too.
The Cincinnati Federation of Teachers filed a motion last week in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court asking a judge to exempt it from a 2002 agreement between Cincinnati Public Schools and a local anti-tax group, the Coalition Opposed to Additional Spending and Taxes (COAST).
In the agreement, Cincinnati Public Schools agreed not to use property or personnel for campaign purposes.
The CFT, in a counterclaim filed Nov. 21, asks the judge to rule that portions of the COAST agreement violate teachers’ First Amendment rights and should be voided.
