The Real Thanksgiving Turkey? SEIU’s Failed LAX Demonstration

By Crissy Brown,

The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) orchestrated a labor demonstration at the Los Angeles International Airport that disturbed over a million and a half vacationers over the Thanksgiving travel period.

Travelers were advised to allot an additional 90 minutes to their expected travel time in response to the disruptive stunt that took place at an airport “expected to be second only to Chicago-O’Hare International Airport in passenger volume,” according to a report from KCET.

As the Orange County Register notes, union leaders say the demonstration was a consequenceof the “400 airport workers [that were] left without a contract earlier this year when Aviation Safeguards, a unit of Command Security Corp. of Parsippany, N.J., terminated contracts with the Service Employees International Union and withdrew all health insurance.”
