President Obama cast aside his hurricane-inspired role as comforter in chief and tore into rival Mitt Romney — going on offense ahead of today’s jobs report and just hours after urging Americans to unite in the wake of superstorm Sandy.

“Let me tell you, Wisconsin, we know what change looks like, and what the governor’s offering sure ain’t change,” Obama told a crowd in Green Bay yesterday, reviving his 2008 “Change” mantra in a multi-state swing that includes Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio and Colorado.

Obama’s gibe comes as the Department of Labor prepared to release its final jobs report today before Tuesday’s election. Its news could significantly alter the neck-and-neck race, said Robert Shapiro, a Columbia University political science professor.
