UAW dissident Gregg Shotwell wants next generation to learn from Delphi’s demise

By Jim Harger,

Gregg Shotwell, the author of “Autoworkers Under the Gun,” says he wants the next generation of auto workers to learn from the front row seat he held during the demise of General Motor Corp.’s Delphi division.

“I make more money in retirement than a new hire in General Motors,” says the 61-year-old Shotwell sadly without a hint of braggadocio in his voice.

“I hope this book gets into the hands of the next generation of auto workers. I feel responsible that my generation not only failed them, but betrayed them,” says Shotwell, whose “Live Bait and Ammo” newsletter became a rallying point for Delphi employees during its spinoff by GM and bankruptcy.
