Red Cross union workers go on strike

American Red Cross blood service workers are on strike. Union members from the UFCW Local 75 walked out Tuesday morning demanding a new contract, and the strike is already affecting blood supply.

Local donation centers are closed, and blood drives are cancelled. Union members started picketing Tuesday morning, demanding a fair contract.

“We have to do something,” says Red Cross employee Pamela Lee. “We have families, and we’re out here working, coming in faithfully, and doing our part, and now it’s time for the company to make a move.”
